Meet Bernadette
Bernadette is very committed to supporting and empowering people as they navigate through life’s challenges.
As a specialist Mental Health Accredited Social Worker, Bernadette can help in situations of specific or complex needs or when people are having difficulties they are struggling to manage on their own.
She believes in the importance of compassion focused work, listening and offering support that responds to the individuals unique experience.
Bernadette has a trauma-informed practice, this means she incorporates core principles of safety, trust, collaboration, choice, and empowerment in all work. Drawing on her knowledge about trauma to respond to clients in a way that conveys respect and compassion, honours self-determination, and enables the rebuilding of healthy interpersonal skills and coping strategies.
Bernadette utilises a range of evidence-based therapies including Trauma- informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal, Narrative therapy, Mindfulness-Based (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems therapy.
At all times her work focuses on creating a caring, supportive, non-judgemental environment helping to create change and turning challenges into opportunities and struggles into hope.
